I see that very well too! Online he's this feared identity, highly respected and feared amongst other hackers in the galaxy and he's able to bring down coorperations and strongly firewalled programs within the govnerment itself....
but in actuality, he's just a scrawny kid with a bit of self-confidence issues.

Ah that little contraption on his arm, is actually a hacked protocol design of the new I-VidPhone. It's music/video player, internet, Playstation-5, projector, video-phone, GPS, Satelite TV, clock/calculator/alarm-clock and heart-rate monitor all in one stylish package.
At least, it would be if they could get the damn calculator program to stop glitching, so it has yet to be released. Usopp just happened to come across the protocol blueprints and gave it to Franky and voila! The glitch was bypassed by having the calculator as a seperate item altogether.
